A new independent vintage and preloved clothing shop is set to open in Tamworth town centre this weekend.
Stay Tidy will welcome its first customers at 5 College Lane on Saturday 3 October. The business has been founded by 26-year-old Lichfield entrepreneur Kai McConomy.
The shop will specialise in vintage and second-hand clothing, adding another independent retailer to the town-centre shopping offer.
New use for College Lane premises
Stay Tidy is taking a physical unit on College Lane rather than operating solely online. The opening gives shoppers an opportunity to browse items in person and brings a previously announced local business concept into a permanent town-centre setting.
Vintage and preloved clothing shops typically work with one-off pieces, meaning stock changes as items are sourced and sold. The format has become an established part of the independent retail sector, with customers looking for distinctive clothing as well as alternatives to buying newly manufactured garments.
The launch comes as Tamworth continues to attract a mix of national names and small independent traders. College Lane links into the wider town-centre retail area and is within walking distance of the main shopping streets.
Opening on Saturday
The doors will open on Saturday 3 October. Details of the launch were submitted to Tamworth Gazette ahead of opening day, together with photographs of the new store.
Founder Kai McConomy is expected to be at the shop for the launch. Media enquiries for the opening are being handled by PR consultant Sarah McConomy.
The opening is a commercial venture, but its arrival is also a local business development: it creates a new independently run shop at a named town-centre address and gives a young entrepreneur a physical presence in Tamworth.
Residents planning to visit should check the shop's own channels for current opening times and stock information.
