A new maths tutoring centre has opened on Swan Road in Lichfield, serving families across Tamworth and the surrounding area. Mathnasium Lichfield and Tamworth will hold its official grand opening on Saturday 17 October between 12pm and 2pm, with the Sheriff of Lichfield, Councillor Andrew Fox, conducting a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The centre, located opposite the Premier Inn, has begun welcoming children for free assessments and one-to-one tuition. Preya Gill, centre owner and director, runs the facility with her husband Aman. Both studied maths at university, and Preya has a background in business, finance and accounting from working for one of the big four accounting and professional services firms.

What the centre offers

Mathnasium provides tailored maths tuition for children of all abilities using the Mathnasium Method, which focuses on developing deep understanding rather than memorisation. According to the centre, 94% of parents across Mathnasium centres report an improvement in their child's maths skills and understanding.

Preya Gill said: "As a mum, I'm passionate about helping children learn. The best part of my day is receiving positive feedback. One child recently described his lessons here as 'amazing'. And one mum showed us an email from her daughter's teacher who'd noticed how much more confident she was about maths, and how she attends school lessons with much more positive energy."

The centre ran a summer maths programme over the school holidays, with many students continuing into the new term.

Grand opening event

The official opening on 17 October will include a short ceremony with the Sheriff, followed by fun maths games and activities for children and baked treats. Families will have the opportunity to meet the team and book a free maths assessment.
