Small businesses in Tamworth are being encouraged to apply for a support programme that could unlock a grant of up to £1,000 for capital investment.

Tamworth Borough Council's Business Growth Action Grant is available to eligible small and medium-sized businesses and self-employed people based in the borough.

Applicants must have been trading for between two and five years and successfully complete either Staffordshire County Council's Growth Ladder programme or its Build and Scale programme before they can receive funding.

What the grant can fund

The grant is intended to help businesses act on recommendations made through the support programmes. Eligible purchases can include machinery, specialist equipment, digital technology, software and low-carbon improvements.

Businesses can request an application form while they are taking part in one of the programmes, but payment remains conditional on successful completion.

Places on the support programmes are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Councillor Nova Arkney, Tamworth Borough Council's portfolio holder for infrastructure and local economy, said: "We know that many businesses have ambitious plans to grow but can sometimes struggle to find the funding needed to take that next step.

"The Business Growth Action Grant is designed to bridge that gap by helping businesses invest in the equipment, technology and improvements they need after receiving expert business advice.

"I would encourage any eligible Tamworth business to register for the Growth Ladder or Build and Scale programme as soon as possible. Not only will they receive valuable specialist support, but on successful completion they could also qualify to apply for up to £1,000 towards implementing their growth plans."

Deadline and eligibility

Grant applications close at 2pm on 30 November 2026. Approved investment must be completed by 28 February 2027.
