Tamworth residents struggling with bills and living costs can now apply for emergency grants from a historic charity fund. Tamworth Municipal Charities is offering £6,500 in total support, with individual grants ranging from £100 to £500. The fund has been helping local people for over 150 years since its establishment in 1868.

The charity covers a wide range of essential needs, from emergency cash payments to household appliances like cookers and washing machines. Applications are also considered for disabled aids and other support. Tamworth Borough Council manages the fund, which has supported hundreds of individuals and community groups over its long history.

With the cost-of-living crisis placing increasing pressure on household finances, council leaders say the fund remains essential for the community. Anica Goodwin, executive director at Tamworth Borough Council, stated: "Now, more than ever, considering ongoing financial pressures and the cost-of-living crisis, the fund remains a vital resource for our community."

Tamworth residents interested in applying should visit the Tamworth Borough Council website to submit their application. The deadline for applications is 15 June 2026. Those eligible can receive between £100 and £500 depending on their circumstances and the nature of their request.
