Children and young people in Tamworth are being invited to imagine what family homes could look like 100 years from now.
Redrow Midlands has opened its ‘archi-tot of the future’ competition to entrants aged four to 16. The housebuilder, which is developing homes at Amington Garden Village, is asking them to design a home suitable for life in 2126.
Ideas could include technology such as wallpaper that changes with a resident’s mood, a self-restocking fridge or a bathroom that cleans itself. Organisers say entries should also consider energy efficiency and sustainable construction.
How to enter the Tamworth competition
Designs must be submitted by midnight on Friday 16 October. Entries should be emailed to BarrattRedrow@wpragency.co.uk.
The winner will receive £100 and have their design placed in a time capsule at Amington Garden Village, ready to be opened in a century. Their entry will also join winning designs selected by other Redrow regions before an overall champion is announced later this year.

Joanne Watson, Sales Director for Redrow Midlands, said the company wanted to celebrate local creativity and encourage young people to consider careers in construction.
She added: “From convertible roofs for those sweltering summer nights to robot gardeners who mow the lawn, we’re searching for the most adventurous and ambitious designers for this role.”
Amington Garden Village is around three miles from Tamworth town centre.
