Tamworth Borough Council is sending specialist surveyors to inspect social housing properties across the borough throughout 2026. The home condition checks will focus on council homes that could not be assessed in previous surveys due to access problems.

Tenants selected for inspection in Tamworth will receive a letter explaining how to arrange access. The visits take around 45 minutes and involve a visual inspection of the inside and outside of the home, including loft spaces. Residents will not need to move furniture or carpets during the survey.

The inspections will help Tamworth Borough Council identify issues early and plan future spending on kitchens, bathrooms, roofs, windows and heating systems across its housing stock. This proactive approach enables the council to prioritise maintenance and improvements based on actual property conditions.

Council bosses are urging Tamworth residents to check surveyor identification before letting anyone inside their homes. Official inspectors will carry ID that can be verified by calling Rapleys on 0117 910 0505.

Any repairs should be reported separately via the council website or on 0800 183 0044, as surveyors cannot process repair requests during visits. Tenants in Tamworth who receive inspection letters should note that these checks are separate from their regular repair reporting channels.
