The family of James Robert Peek has paid tribute to his long service to Tamworth Talking Newspaper following his death on 3 October.
His wife, Christine, said he had been involved with the local charity for many years, first as a general volunteer and later as its chair for more than 20 years.
Years of practical support
Christine described how James helped to copy recordings for listeners as the charity moved from cassette tapes to CDs and later USB sticks. He also delivered copies to recipients and helped with other everyday tasks.
As chair, she said, he arranged social events for blind people and helped raise funds through local companies, with support from mayors and other local figures.
The family has given permission for this tribute to be published.
