Tamworth Borough Council is launching a series of free community support events across the borough during July, August and September to help residents manage rising household costs.
The drop-in sessions will be held at community venues throughout Tamworth. No appointment is needed — residents can attend whichever session suits them best.
What support is available
At the sessions, residents can speak with council officers and partner organisations about budgeting, benefits, rent, Council Tax, household bills and managing debt. Information will also be provided about the Council's Financial Hardship Fund, which may be available to eligible Tamworth Borough Council tenants experiencing financial difficulty.
Representatives from Stop Loan Sharks will be present to offer confidential advice about illegal money lending, how to recognise loan sharks, support for those affected, and information on safer borrowing options.
Councillor statement
Councillor Ben Clarke, portfolio holder for housing, homelessness and planning, said: "We know many people continue to feel the impact of rising household costs, and asking for help can sometimes feel overwhelming. These events are designed to make it as easy as possible for residents to get free advice and speak directly with organisations that can help."
Clarke added: "Whether you need support with budgeting, benefits, rent, council tax, or simply want to find out what help is available, we encourage anyone who thinks they could benefit to come along."
