LightSpeed Networks has announced a £685,000 investment in fibre infrastructure serving business parks around Tamworth and Atherstone.

The company says the project includes a new 25km fibre link between Tamworth and Nuneaton, supporting services at Centurion Park and Relay Park in Wilnecote, Abeles Way Business Park in north Atherstone, and Carlyon and Netherwood Industrial Estates in south-west Atherstone.

Business connectivity of up to 10Gbps will be subject to service availability and technical qualification. The announcement does not mean those speeds will be available to every business immediately.

LightSpeed says the link also supports a wider residential expansion programme in Atherstone, Polesworth and Grendon. Together with associated infrastructure, it puts that programme’s investment at approximately £4.4 million, supporting connectivity to around 12,000 residential premises.

Group chief executive Liam Hickey said: “This investment strengthens our regional infrastructure and creates further opportunities for organisations to access the connectivity and network services they need.”

The company plans to serve businesses directly and through specialist partners.
