Hundreds of schoolchildren will perform at Tamworth's biggest family festival on Saturday 4 July. The second 'Kaleidoscope of Dreams' festival takes place at the Castle Grounds and is completely free to attend. The event features school choirs, dance troupes, live bands and cheerleading displays, with all performers joining together to sing four special songs including a new track based on this year's theme 'better together'.
Beyond the main stage performances, which run from 11.30am to 4.30pm, there's plenty to keep families entertained throughout the day. A free colour run starts at 11am (early booking is essential as spaces are limited), while children can enjoy a petting zoo, walkabout characters, face painting and community games. A dedicated Community Games zone offers sports activities alongside stalls from local voluntary groups, with entertainment continuing until 5pm.
Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough Council, described last year's inaugural festival as a "huge success" and said this year's event will be even bigger. The festival aims to encourage unity, equality and diversity across Tamworth. Children from 16 local schools have created posters, bunting and shields exploring why communities thrive when people work together.
These handmade creations will be displayed as part of a special Art Trail around Tamworth town centre, extending the festival's message beyond the Castle Grounds. For families looking for a free summer activity with entertainment and community spirit, Tamworth's Kaleidoscope of Dreams festival on 4 July offers something for all ages.
