Ken Norchi has been officially sworn in as Tamworth's new mayor, taking on the ceremonial role for the second time. He previously served as mayor in 2016. Pat Pallett has been appointed as his Deputy Mayor to support him during his term.
Norchi vowed to make it "a good and happy year" for the town of Tamworth. His fellow councillors praised his appointment, and he thanked them for the opportunity. The new mayor also commended outgoing Mayor Chris Bain for his "hard work and dedication" during his year in office.
Chris Bain handed over the chains and robes after describing his year as Tamworth's mayor as "a pleasure and privilege." He praised the "remarkable and amazing work" he had witnessed across local communities and spoke of the inspiring individuals he had met during his tenure.
The new mayor is already organising fundraising events to support local causes across Tamworth. His first event was a chocolate bingo night held at Bolehall Swifts on 22 May, which raised over £500. Residents can follow his activities and upcoming events on the Mayor of Tamworth Facebook page.
