Tamworth residents, businesses and community groups have until Monday 5 October 2026 to comment on the borough's draft Local Plan.
The six-week consultation is the final opportunity to respond before the pre-submission plan goes to full council and, subject to approval, is sent for independent examination.
What the plan covers
The Local Plan will guide how land across Tamworth is used and developed through to 2043. It will influence future planning decisions, including what is built, where development takes place and which areas are protected.
Topics covered include the number, type and location of new homes; employment land and job opportunities; the future of the town centre; heritage; design; flood risk; biodiversity; transport and infrastructure.
The council says the plan is intended to make the best use of Tamworth's limited land, support affordable housing, diversify the local economy and help regenerate the town centre.
How to have your say
People can read the draft plan and supporting documents and submit comments through the council's online engagement platform.
Paper copies are also available to view at Marmion House on Lichfield Street and at local libraries.
Councillor Ben Clarke, portfolio holder for housing, homelessness and planning, said: “There is now just one week left to have your say on the draft local plan.”
He encouraged anyone with an interest in Tamworth's future to review the proposals and respond before the deadline.
What happens next
The final version is expected to go before the full council in December 2026 for a decision on whether it should be submitted for examination.
More information is available on the council's consultation page.
