Residents across Tamworth are being asked to help shape the borough council’s priorities and spending plans by taking part in its annual resident and budget survey.
The consultation opened on Tuesday 22 September and will run until Sunday 25 October 2026. Tamworth Borough Council says responses will help councillors understand what matters most to local people before future priorities and budgets are considered.
The survey is open to everyone who lives in the borough. It asks for views on council services, spending decisions, trust in the authority and wider questions about community life in Tamworth.
What the Tamworth survey asks
Questions cover residents’ overall satisfaction with the council, the services they regard as most important and where they believe limited resources should be focused. People are also invited to comment on their neighbourhood, sense of community and quality of life.
The council says the findings will be used alongside other evidence when it sets priorities and makes budget decisions. Results should also help it identify areas where residents believe services are working well and where improvements may be needed.
Councillor Carol Dean, leader of Tamworth Borough Council, has encouraged residents from across the borough to take part and make their views known.
How council tax is used
The authority says it receives around nine pence from every pound collected through council tax. For an average Band C property, its share is approximately £191 a year.
That contribution supports a range of local services, including waste and recycling collections, parks and street cleaning, planning and licensing, housing and homelessness support, benefits advice and work to tackle anti-social behaviour.
The borough council also operates Tamworth Assembly Rooms and Tamworth Castle, maintains cemeteries and leisure facilities, and provides support for local businesses.
Other parts of a household’s council-tax bill fund services delivered by organisations including Staffordshire County Council, Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Paper copies are available from Marmion House for residents who cannot complete the questionnaire online.
The consultation closes on Sunday 25 October 2026. Residents are being encouraged to respond before the deadline so their views can be included in the council’s analysis.
