Tamworth Borough Council has received a bronze award in the RSPCA PawPrints scheme for its animal-activity licensing work.
The 2026 award recognises the council's processing of animal-licensing applications and its handling of complaints from residents about licensed animal activities.
PawPrints is a national accreditation scheme that recognises animal-welfare work by local authorities, housing providers and other public bodies in England and Wales.
Councillor David Foster, portfolio holder for environmental sustainability, waste, recycling and transport, said: “We're extremely proud to receive recognition from the RSPCA once again. This award is a fantastic acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication of our licensing team, who play a vital role in protecting animal welfare and ensuring high standards are maintained across licensed animal activities in Tamworth.”
He said officers work with businesses to explain their responsibilities and take action where standards fall short.
The RSPCA scheme includes categories covering stray-dog services, animal-activity licensing, housing, contingency and emergency planning, kennelling and special awards.
