Former Tamworth borough councillor Tina Clements has been awarded the honorary title of alderwoman in recognition of her years of public service to the town.
The honour was confirmed at a meeting of Tamworth Borough Council on Tuesday 8 September. Ms Clements is pictured receiving the framed recognition alongside the Mayor of Tamworth.
Tamworth Borough Council said the award recognised a dedicated public servant and her contribution to the people of the borough.
Recognition for long council service
The council says the title of honorary alderman or honorary alderwoman can be awarded to former borough councillors who have served the authority for at least three consecutive terms.
That eligibility requirement places the honour in the context of sustained public service over a number of years, rather than work connected with a single meeting or council project.
Ms Clements also served as Mayoress of Tamworth during the 2012-13 municipal year, taking part in the borough's civic life and supporting the mayoralty's public duties.
Official election records show that Tina Anne Clements was elected to represent Tamworth's Wilnecote ward in May 2022. Council records for 2024-25 also list her among the authority's serving members during that period.
Honorary title awarded at full council
The presentation at full council formally records Ms Clements' service to Tamworth and gives the borough an opportunity to recognise the time she spent representing residents.
The honorary title follows the council's stated requirement that recipients must have completed a minimum of three consecutive terms as a borough councillor.
